An undertaking for a scribe is a formal document that states that a candidate will use a specific person as their scribe for an exam. The undertaking may also include other information, such as:  
The scribe’s qualifications  
A declaration that the scribe is not a candidate for the exam  
A declaration that the candidate has not appeared for the exam more than once  
A statement that the candidate will forfeit their right to the post if the scribe’s qualifications are not as stated  
A statement that the candidate will abide by the instructions for candidates with scribes  
A scribe is a person who writes down a student’s answers during an exam. Scribes are usually familiar with the subject area and have legible handwriting.  
A letter of undertaking is a formal document that one party uses to assure another that they will fulfill an obligation or requirement. However, it is not considered a contract.
